Velvet Teddy is a beautiful, neutral, brown toned nude with a bit of a 90’s feel. A lot of them would wash me out, look way too peachy-pink on me or simply looked “too nude” (read: they made me look like a zombie). I had the most difficult time finding a nude lipstick that would be suitable for my skin tone. If you haven’t found your signature shade yet, now is the time to stock up and try a couple options out.I’m still so very much in love with matte lipsticks and one that I have been obsessed with for months now is MAC’s Velvet Teddy. Typically a MAC lipstick would cost you about $20, but on Black Friday it’s down to $15 a tube at Nordstrom or Ulta for Black Friday. Kylie Jenner reportedly swears Velvet Teddy makes the perfect nude, while Kim Kardashian made the case for Angel back in 2011.

In the years that have followed, almost every celebrity has adopted a MAC lipstick shade they swear by. And if you need something more than Madonna’s on-stage approval to sell you on a makeup product, then I don’t know what to tell you. Years later, MAC would make a lipstick shade specifically for her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, Russian Red, because she needed something that wouldn’t come off during her performance.

MAC lipstick has actually been famous since the late ‘80s when Madonna first wore one of its deep red lipsticks on a photoshoot. Obviously, most celebrities have this part down to a science and it involves MAC lipstick. Finding a lipstick that’ll last all night and throughout a late pizza session is already hard enough, but finding a lip color that you can trust to wear day in and day out is even harder. Signature eyeshadow shades come and go but signature lip colors are forever.
